TC 1600 is the most difficult technology center at the USPTO, with an allowance rate of only 61% — well below the USPTO average of 75%. Life science patents, particularly those covering biological materials, are some of the most complex and frequently subject to § 101 rejections. TC 1600 has received the highest number of Myriad/Mayo rejections of all technology centers. The average allowance rate for those applications is the second-lowest, sitting at 50%.
