Much has been made about the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. While it is clear that the pandemic and its associated lockdowns have resulted in a sharp economic contraction, it is unclear what effect—if any—it will have on the USPTO in terms of patent filing and other patent prosecution-related activity.
Juristat is proud to release its ranking of the Top 100 U.S. Patent Firms. This is the only ranking of U.S. patent prosecution firms that is based on the objective measurement of those firms' performance in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

By now, it's pretty clear that we at Juristat love competitions, lists, and ranking things in general. Because of our penchant for pitting patent-filing companies and firms against each other, we've been hard at work on our biggest ranking yet - the overall Top 100 Patent Law Firms. This list is the only ranking of U.S. law firms based on those firms' objective performance in front of the USPTO. Due to our barely contained excitement, we've decided to give our blog readers a special sneak peak at the firms rounding out the Juristat Top Twenty! Congratulations to all the top twenty firms!
New Year. New Features.
Juristat is proud to announce new features for 2016. These new features offer an unprecedented level of integration with your existing software and customization of search results.
On June 19, 2014, the Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International. Besides an explosion of bad Alice in Wonderland allusions in the patent law blogosphere, Alice significantly changed the landscape for software patents. Alice makes it significantly more difficult to obtain a patent on software and § 101 rejections have become much more common in the decision's wake. We at Juristat used our database of over 6.8 million patent applications to determine the top 10 firms with the highest success rate in overcoming Alice rejections. We limited our analysis to firms that have had at least 15 applications that received rejections based on Alice between June 19, 2014 and May 1, 2015.
